Available Disciplines:
Dressage: Lessons are available from introductory level through intermediate, with farm members attending several schooling shows throughout the year. Susan uses many classical dressage teaching mechanisms, and focuses on proper alignment of horse and rider as well as exercises in straightness, lateral movement, collection, and suppling. The farm also currently has an upper level instructor who does clinics here on a frequent basis. Hunt Seat: Lessons are available from introductory through intermediate levels, with farm members attending several shows throughout the year. Instruction is available on the flat as well as over fences. Instruction focuses on proper position, correct use of aids, and evenness and flow of the horse’s gaits. Side Saddle: It is very important to have PROPER side saddle lessons. This is a very safe and secure way of riding once a proper seat is achieved and your horses is fitted CORRECTLY with a well fitting side saddle. This can be UNSAFE if not done properly. We offer Side Saddle Clinics at Sunset Farm or we can come to your Farm. Clinics will include SIDE SADDLE RIDING INSTRUCTION and can also include any or all of the following: · HISTORY · EQUIPMENT (Proper equipment for each style of riding as well as fitting of equip.) · ATTIRE · MOUNTING/DISMOUNTING · RIDING STYLES ( Hunt Seat, Dressage, Stock Seat, Saddle Seat, Jumping Side Saddle). · Handout material, to include information regarding Side Saddle Assoc. · Side Saddle Demonstrations: This is by special arrangement. A brief introduction to the saddle can be included, but this would not be lesson. Fox Hunting Preparation: Proper etiquette is a must if you plan to ride with a recognized HUNT . We can help you learn the rules, etiquette and safe practices. We can also accustom your horse to riding in groups under varying conditions and over varied terrain. |
